Summary of qualifications

phd. Mathematics with 25+ years of experience in Embedded Digital Hardware and Software Design for DSP and Microcontroller based systems.  FPGA/ASIC design using VHDL.  Fluent in “C” and very comfortable in Assembler for many architectures, including DSP and RISC processors.

Professional experience

1996 - 2002                 Sound Vision, Inc                      Framingham, MA

Co-Founder and Vice President

Embedded programming, principally of ARM 720T built into in Sound Vision’s custom ASIC, which was created to incorporate most of the components in a digital camera.  ASIC design verification.  In C and assembly language.  Image acquisition from many types of sensor, image processing, user interface.  Wrote manual on Sound Vision’s software system for OEM customers, who built digital cameras from our ASICs.  Customer interfacing and training, and OEM sales support.   Visual C/C++ programming under Microsoft Windows, including design and coding of custom video compression/decompression algorithm.  C and assembly language programming of TI signal processor chips in SV’s digital cameras.

1986 - 1996                 Leaf Systems, Inc                      Southboro, MA

Co-Founder and Vice President

Embedded programming (C, assembler) for 80186 in Leafax, Leaf’s suitcase scanner/transmitter for the newspaper industry, which digitized images from color or black-and-white, positive or negative 35-mm film and transmitted them via telephone.  Virtually the Leafax’s sole designer/programmer.  Design and programming of operating system, network and local messaging package, user interface, etc. for Leaf’s ground-breaking imaging network (servers and workstations), purchased by the Associated Press and installed at all the 1100-odd which are members of the Associated Press.  Assembly-language programming of 8087’s in Leaf’s image telephone-transmitting and --receiving devices for weather and news pictures.
